Masuo Ikeda was born in Fenglien in China (Manchuria). He studied art in Tokyo from 1952-1953.
Ikeda was represented and won numerous prizes in all major post-war print exhibitions-Tokyo, Venice,
Krakow, Ljubljana and Paris. Ikeda worked in different printmaking techniques.
In 1965 a solo-exhibition of his prints was shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
In 1966 he received the Grand Prize in the print section of the Venice Biennale.
In 1972 he moved to New York. Oguse town in Nagano prefecture hosts a Masuo Ikeda Museum with
some 850 works ofart on display.
